We have successfully taken positions in all sectors of the industry, such as Bulk Commodity Trading, Vessel Ownership, Vessel Chartering, and Mining Off-take.

In the late Seventies, a Joint Venture was established between the Directors and Galadari Brothers in the UAE. As an Independent Group of Companies, we traded Steel Scrap, Pig Iron, Structural Steel Products, Industrial Steel Products, Agriculture and Food Products, Coal, Coke, and Fertilisers.

This Group became the largest trading partner with Indian Government Undertaking Groups: (i) MSTC, India, for Scrap Steel, (ii) MMTC, India, for Pig Iron and (iii) Steel Authority of India, for Structural Steel.

We collectively carried over 3.5 million tons of Wheat and Grains for USDA and CCC in the U.S for Iraqi Grain Board (1978–1986), ‘Food for Peace’ PL480, Ministry of Food & Agriculture Pakistan, and for the Government of Bangladesh.

In the Eighties, the principal trading company, “IBCTL” became one of the largest independent trading companies, trading more than 1.5 million tons of commodities and transporting more than 4 million tons of cargo. During this period, at times IBCTL maintained up to 1 Million DWT’age under Time Charter.

In the Nineties, a Joint Venture with Tramp Oil Group, UK was formed. Under the banner ‘Transtrade Cyprus Limited’ and ‘Associated Shipping Limited (Cyprus)’ , Transtrade concluded the largest one-time trading deal with Pakistan Steel Mills for slabs and pig iron with a value of US $85 million. Several vessels were time chartered to carry Pig Iron, Slabs, Scrap, Coke Breeze and Met Coke from Brazil/CIS to Karachi, and in addition, Wheat cargoes from USNOPAC to Bin Qasim for the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Pakistan.

Ores and Minerals Corporation was established in 2007 to act as a supplier of raw materials to Chinese Steel Mills and major Chinese trading companies and was a consolidation of several older and well-established businesses.
